Opening paragraph

Micromonospora andamanensis is a Gram-positive bacterium from the genus Micromonospora. The type strain was isolated from a marine sponge of the genus Xestospongia collected near Phuket, Thailand.

Taxonomy Micromonospora andamanensis was originally described as Verrucosispora andamanensis in 2013, then transferred to the genus Micromonospora by Nouioui et al. in 2018. The specific epithet ''andamanensis'' refers to the Andaman Sea the source of the type strain.

Isolation and characteristics In 2009 DSMZ lists the type strain, SP03-05, as being isolated from a marine sponge, Xestospongia sp., collected from Andaman Sea near Phuket, Thailand and records the 16S rRNA gene accession number as JX524154. The type strain is deposited as BCC 45620, DSM 46721 and NBRC 109075. DSMZ reports a DNA G+C content of 72.4 mol%.

BacDive described the type strain as aerobic, spore-forming and Gram-positive, with recorded growth at 20-40°C and optimum growth at 30°C, pH 6-12 optimum pH 8 & NaCl growth 0-4%, optimum 3%.

A whole genome shotgun sequencing project for strain NBRC 109075 was registered in 2021 under the accession number BOOZ00000000.

DSMZ lists the strain as risk group 1 under the German TRBA classification.
